On Tribal Mind today in the SMH, they were discussing the best and the worst of 2005 television.Gripes: Where was Six Feet Under this year? Why is Idol still on? Why is BB still on? Why didn't they can X-factor? Why do they put ridiculously good shows in ridiculous hours? Why do I have to watch B grade celebs lose weight? Why can't I gain weight? Why do I like watching documentaries? Why do we have a non-ratings period? Why do they axe shows that are good? Why do they force us to go cable? Why do the ads really sound louder than the programs? Why can't they show something else other than Simpsons on Ten? Why is American comedy just not funny? Why can't Australia do any better than McLeod's Daughters for dramas? Why am I loaded with CSI every day of the week? Why are movies on foreign language SBS movies better than those on other channels? Why is Kath and Kim only showing in one telemovie? Why can't they show soccer on commercial tv? Why do people even watch Today Tonight? Why is there very little decent things to watch? Why is Hotdogs hosting some show late at night? Why can't commerical tv get any better? Why? WhY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY?

But I'm not an outdoors person... And in HK, I can't be exposed to the toxic fumes and avian flu and SARS and dirty streets, so must stay indoors. Who cares, I'm still going out...
But here. I have to stay indoors coz what else is there to do? Shops close at 530, dinner finishes at 830, i work at 9 lol. Anyway

lol 'tis also because of the amount of american programmes the networks buy in because a) they can't be bothered to make their own programmes or b) they can't afford to make their own programmes, so instead. yep. we get american imports. fun, not :P

yes. american programs.. why don't we make our own? doesn't news limited own half the world's media companies anyway? and it's got roots in australia, so why not just filter some money over here.
it always comes back to the question: are we the 53rd state of the US.

probably cheaper to make the programmes in the US and then import them.

Because the Australian audience as a whole do not care as much about their television viewing as say, the British or European audience do; Australia is predominantly an outdoor country, whereas European countries are indoors - given the weather...does that make sense? I know what i'm talking about if nothing else :P
