Cold and Very Hot warnings (寒冷及酷熱天氣警告)
Members of the public are advised to put on warm clothes and beware of low body temperature due to the cold weather. If you must go out, avoid prolonged exposure to wintry winds.市民應提高警惕，多穿保暖衣服，以防因嚴寒而引致體溫過低. 如必須外出，應避免長時間置身在寒風中.
When engaged in outdoor work or activities, drink plenty of water and avoid over exertion. Avoid prolonged exposure under sunlight. 在戶外工作或活動的人士，應多喝水和不要過度勞累. 於感覺不適時，應盡快到陰涼的地方休息. 避免長時間在陽光下曝曬.
Tropical cyclone warning system (香港的熱帶氣旋警告信號):
This is a stand-by signal, indicating that a tropical cyclone is centred within about 800 km of Hong Kong and may affect the territory.這是戒備信號，表示有一熱帶氣旋集結於香港約800公里的範圍內, 可能影響本港.
Strong wind is expected or blowing generally in Hong Kong, with a sustained speed of 41-62 km/h, and gusts may exceed 110 km/h. The wind condition is expected to persist and normally expected to become stronger within 12 hours after the signal's issue.香港現正或預料會普遍吹強風, 持續風力達每小時41至62公里, 陣風更可能超過每小時110公里. 3號熱帶氣旋警告信號發出後12小時之內, 海港附近區域的風力普遍會加強.
Gale or storm force wind is expected or blowing generally in Hong Kong near sea level, with a sustained wind speed of 63-117 km/h from the quarter indicated and gusts which may exceed 180 km/h, and the wind condition is expected to persist.
香港近海平面處現正或預料會普遍受烈風或暴風從信號所示方向吹襲, 持續風力達每小時63至117公里, 陣風更可能超過每小時180公里, 且風勢可能持續.
Gale or storm force wind is increasing or expected to increase significantly in strength.烈風或暴風的風力現正或預料會顯著加強.
Hurricane force wind is expected or blowing with sustained wind speed reaching upwards from 118 km/h and gusts that may exceed 220 km/h.風力現正或預料會達到颶風程度，持續風力達每小時118公里或以上，陣風更可能超過每小時220公里.
Where the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or above is issued during work/school hours, employees and students can generally go home.

Rainstorm warning system (暴雨警告系統):
Heavy rain has fallen or is expected to fall generally over Hong Kong, exceeding 30 millimetres in an hour, and is likely to continue.表示香港廣泛地區已錄得或預料會有每小時雨量超過30毫米的大雨, 且雨勢可能持續.
Heavy rain has fallen or is expected to fall generally over Hong Kong, exceeding 50 millimetres in an hour, and is likely to continue.表示香港廣泛地區已錄得或預料會有每小時雨量超過50毫米的大雨, 且雨勢可能持續.
Very heavy rain has fallen or is expected to fall generally over Hong Kong, exceeding 70 millimetres in an hour, and is likely to continue. 表示香港廣泛地區已錄得或預料會有每小時雨量超過70毫米的豪雨, 且雨勢可能持續.For red/black rainstorm signals, students should stay home or, if already at school, should remain there until the end of school hours and conditions are safe for them to return home.
學生應留在家中. 如已返抵學校, 則應留在校內, 直至放學時間及情況安全適宜回家, 方可離開.
Under the black rainstorm signal, employers are advised not to require their employees go to work unless prior agreement on work arrangements during rainstorms has been made.
政府呼籲僱主不應要求僱員上班, 除非有關暴雨時的工作安排已有事先協定.
Thunderstorm warning (雷暴警告):
Thunderstorm warnings are intended to give short-term (within one to a few hours) notice of the likelihood of thunderstorms affecting any part of Hong Kong.雷暴警告旨在提醒市民雷暴有可能在短時間內（一至數小時內）影響香港境內任何地方.
Monsoon warning (強烈季候風信號):
The Strong Monsoon Signal is issued when winds associated with the summer or winter monsoon are blowing in excess of or are expected to exceed 40 kilometres per hour near sea level anywhere in Hong Kong. Winter monsoon normally blows from the north or from the east while summer monsoon typically blows from the southwest.發出強烈季候風信號，表示在本港境內任何一處接近海平面的地方，冬季或夏季季候風之平均風速現已或將會超過每小時40公里。冬季季候風一般從北面或東面吹來，而夏季季候風則主要是西南風
