So it turns out that Benny can indeed survive one week on an $88 budget for food. It turns out that he can actually survive with just $69.70 to be precise. This process has shown that I have actually spent too much money on the small things, like drinks, ice creams and yet eating out on a budget can be just as tasty and satisfying.
Onto what I consider to be more interesting issues, former Prime Minister Paul Keating has labelled Sydney "ugly" and that modern development design in this city is disgustingly mediocre. He blamed developers, and in particular Meriton, for spreading the "disfiguring eczema" of modernist design, which would turn Australian cities into the barren scenery of Tokyo. Now Mr Keating, if you don't mind, Tokyo architecture and design is really quite remarkable. A walk in downtown Shinjuku and you would see the staggering difference between there and Sydney. It just doesn't compare.
I have to say though, that the new buildings in Sydney along George Street all resemble ugly deformed mushrooms. Even World Square or the EY building really don't cut it in terms of architectural excellence. Look at Melbourne, Brisbane and the Gold Coast for nice shiny metallic buildings. Why does Sydney have to miss out and get ugly white UTS tower replicates. Gah.
Did you know that the City of Sydney imposes a limit on the height of buildings in the city. No building is to be built higher than the AMP Tower, which standing at about 302m is quite short in world standards. The tallest tower in Australia is the Q1 tower on the Gold Coast standing at 323m. The Eureka tower in Melbourne is 300m and is the tallest residential building in the world.
Sydney, where art thou tall world-famous skyscrapers?

neither. FF1.5.07
and yeah, the sydney cityscape is pathethic. I remember walking along Darling Harbour to the Star City one night, and just looking over to the CBD was so depressing and disappointing.
Haha, Keating is known for being quite acidically mouthly inclined...
And I'm glad people agree that Sydney architecture could do with some improving. Well I would have to disagree with Pang on that one though. Sydney is quite nice, from a distance... like walking along Darling Harbour. When you look at it closely, it's not so great.

MOZILLA ALL THE WAY!!! MOZILLA FOR PRESIDENT!!! or whatever..haha
Yeah Sydney's turning pretty butt-ugly. I always loved Keating...he just had that nice look - never noticed the "acid-tongue" at all..not at all..haha
