Dreams on Wheels
The University of Technology, Sydney in conjunction with the City of Sydney and Royal Danish Embassy is hosting Dreams on Wheels, an exhibition showcasing Danish bicycle culture and innovation.Dreams on Wheels aims to promote cycling in a broader cultural concept, not just isolated to urban planning.
There will be designer and rental bicycles on display, as well as Danish architect Jan Gehl's urban visions for Australia. Jan Gehl is the architect behind The Gehl Report, a look at strategies for promoting a better Sydney published in December 2007. This report laid the foundation for the Sustainable Sydney 2030 (right) plans released earlier this year.
Did you know that there is a program in Denmark offering free bicycle hire for use in the inner city?
My thoughts: I had a brief look at the exhibition between exams and it's not bad. It sprawls along the main entrance level of Tower Building, and complements well with the overall redesign of the building. The bicycles look uber cool and it is an easy, simple, flowing exhibition.
