new dictionary entries
The "Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary" has added one hundred new words to its dictionary for this year including:- Subprime (次按) [named US word of 2008] - a risky or less-than-ideal loan or mortgage (US definition)
- Dirty bomb (骯髒彈) - weapon that combines radioactive material with conventional explosives
- Texas Hold'em (得州話事啤)
- Pescatarian (會吃魚的素食者) - a vegetarian that also eats fish
- Prosecco (意大利汽酒) - an Italian soft drink
- Soju (韓國燒酒) - a South Korean alcoholic drink
- Infinity pool (看似無邊際的戶外泳池) - a pool that appears to have no edge
- Webinar (網絡會議) - an internet seminar
- Netroots (網根族: 透過網誌互相溝通的政治草根群眾) - online political activism
