The Beijing Olympics was a stunning success, showcasing seventeen days of flawless and precision games choreography. The games were 'truly exceptional' and not 'the best ever', but that has not dampened worldwide praise. It was a fantastic showcase for the emerging China.London 2012 will not top Beijing in financial or 'wow' prowess. China spent close to three times the allocated budget for London ($20 billion). Beijing now has the world's largest airport, four new subway lines with 47 new stations and two memorable architectural wonders amongst a plethora of new-found pride in the city and central government.
Balmy London will come around in 1432 days time. The first thing they must do is to change that logo. The creator must have been on drugs devising Lisa Simpson in a compromised position as the symbol of the London Olympics.
