Well maybe we don't have a choice. The situation is at such a stage that we don't really have a choice.
Why should the government interfere with the free market in the freest nation in the world?
The world has no alternative than to restore some confidence in our markets. It does not seem to have worked though.
Falling is more thrilling than any increase. It feels like your heart is going to jump out.
The media seem to dramatise the fall in anything more than the rise.
Why should ordinary people for 18 weeks of maternity leave and 2 weeks of paternity leave?
I don't advocate for taxpayers to fund maternity and paternity leave at a fixed rate per week as it would lead to people having babies for the sake of the money. I would rather see rationed amounts limited to spending on certain items.
Why should taxpayers subsidise someone to have children?
We shouldn't. Having a baby is a financial cost that should be borne by those that choose to have one. If they feel they are financially, emotionally and physiologically ready to have a baby, then have one. Don't do it when you're not financially ready to support a family.
Should they not pay for their own children themselves?
Yes.
Why can't people stop comparing Australia to other countries to justify maternity leave?
People clamber onto sticks when they are desperate to prove something. Every situation is different, and this is no different.
People are being too unreasonable.
The media only likes to sensationalise the news.
They do.
