surviving last week

Last week the stars aligned and students from primary, secondary and tertiary school all had holidays simultaneously.
  • Primary school holidays led many parents to also take leave to be with their children.
  • Secondary school holidays gave teenagers an excuse to go out
  • Tertiary school holidays gave us a chance to finally relax after assessments
Now exacerbated by today's Labour Day public holiday, mayhem reigned across the city. What do I mean by mayhem?
  1. No buses, because the lack of peak hour traffic means that buses come about 10 minutes early.
  2. No seats on trains, because the they are filled with families with children all going to Circular Quay to look at the Opera House.
  3. No rooms for K, because teenagers are being rebellious and singing past dinnertime.
  4. No places to eat, because it seems like everywhere is full.
  5. No quietness, because crying babies drives me crazy on the train.
That is all.
