daylight savings ends

Daylight savings ends tonight. Clocks wind back one hour at 3am to 2am, meaning that we get an extra hour of sleep. At 3am tomorrow AEST, the times around the world will be:
  • 3am in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Hobart
  • 2:30am in Adelaide, Darwin [0.5h]
  • 2am in Tokyo [1h]
  • 1am in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore, Perth [2h]
  • 7pm (-1) in Paris, Madrid, Rome, Johannesburg [8h]
  • 6pm (-1) in London, Lisbon [9h]
  • 1pm (-1) in New York, Washington DC, Miami [14h]
  • 12pm (-1) in Chicago, Dallas [15h]
  • 10am (-1) in Los Angeles, Vancouver [17h]
Did you know that daylight savings is governed by the Standard Time Act 1971. In 2007, legislation was passed to harmonise NSW with the other south-eastern states with respect to start and end times. Since 2008, daylight savings has been extended by 4 weeks to commence in the first week of October and end in the first week of April.
