The thing that I learnt this year about Easter is that it moves with the moon(!). That is the reason why it changes every year, like Chinese New Year to name a famous example.So how does it work? Well Easter falls on the first Sunday after the "pascal full moon", which is a complex calculation not linked with the full moon event itself. It actually means the 14th day of a lunar month, whose calendar dates back centuries.
For simple folk, the general rule is that Easter will fall on the first Sunday after first full moon beyond March 21.
For those of us that are already counting towards the next 4-day long weekend, next year's Easter will be 4 April 2010.
